Congratulations to Ashton Agar on being one of 17 players selected to receive a national contract from Cricket Australia.
At just 23 years of age, Ash has built a formidable first-class record at the Western Warriors under the guidance of Justin Langer. Although Ash’s much publicised Test debut in the 2013 Ashes series remains an iconic moment in Australian cricket history, of far greater importance has been his continuing development in first-class ranks with over 1000 runs and 120 wickets to his name already. With the pace friendly WACA wicket (and Fremantle Doctor) as his Australian cricketing home, we think his spinning achievements are often underestimated. Five five-wicket innings hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls on some of the more spin friendly pitches around Australia underline the level of Ash’s abilities and we can’t wait to see him stamp his all-round game on international cricket once more in the near future.
