Well and truly shedding the tag of ‘rising star’, Caleb Ewan has punctuated his neo-pro year with a stage victory at the Vuelta a Espana.

Caleb capitalised off a near-perfect lead out from his Orica-GreenEDGE teammates on stage five to produce an equally perfect sprint under pressure from seasoned professionals John Degenkolb and Peter Sagan.

Deciding to kick late, Caleb’s excelleration was too much for the pair and ensured he had plenty of time for celebration across the line. WATCH the final kilometres here.

The result was no doubt even more noteworthy given it was Caleb’s first ever Grand Tour. The 21-year-old now holds 11 victories to his name, six more than the team’s target for him in 2015.
