ASHTON’S SCORCHERS CLAIM THE BIG BASH TITLE

The Perth Scorchers have claimed their third Big Bash League title in four years and in so doing have stamped themselves as the competition’s premier franchise.

For the Signature Sport team it was fantastic to see Ashton Agar a contributing member of the team’s path to the title, highlighted by his last ball heroics against the Melbourne Renegades when he dispatched Aaron Finch over the ropes to win the game for the Scorchers. Throughout the Big Bash, Ash’s tight bowling played a vital role in restricting the opposition team’s scoring surges, while he is now arguably the competition’s premier fielder, taking some of the best catches across the series. Albeit with limited opportunity due to the success of the Scorcher’s top order, Ash’s stroke play is an ever present danger for bowlers and it is only a matter of time when he is in a position to exhibit this on a match by match basis. We’re already looking forward to next season!
