Hamilton runner-up in u23 Giro d’Italia

Lucas Hamilton marked his name in the history books becoming the first Australian to finish on the podium overall at the Giro Ciclistico d’Italia, known as the u23 Giro d’Italia.

Lucas finished a close runner-up on General Classification, nine seconds behind the winner Pival Sivakov. Lucas had an incredible week of racing, taking an emphatic win in the individual time trial on stage 5b – echoing back to when countryman Richie Porte won in the time trial in 2011. In a showing of unprecedented consistency for the race, Lucas also finished runner-up in the final mountaintop stage finish, 3rd on stage 3 and finished in the top 10 on another two occasions. With a season that has already turned heads with world cycling, Lucas is quickly shaping up to be one of Australia’s most exciting up-and-coming riders. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
