Popular with recreational cyclists from around Australia and the globe, this spectacular coastal ride continues to grow each year. Here’s why.
The mass participation element of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race – the Swisse People’s Ride – has been a great success story for participants, key partners and organisers alike.
One of its unique features is the opportunity to ride alongside Australia’s only Tour de France winner, Cadel Evans.
Since its inception, Cadel has thoroughly enjoyed riding shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands of riders. The course begins in Geelong, heads through Cadel’s hometown of Barwon Heads, out to the start of the Great Ocean Road and back again. Cadel said:
“Post my professional career, the Swisse People’s Ride has become my most important – and enjoyable – ride of the year. Not just because of the magnificent route, but more so due to the emotive atmosphere, unrivalled comradery and pure joy of sharing such an experience with so many like-minded people.”
Recognising the strong synergies between Cadel’s passion for wellness and its own mission for a healthier and happier community, Signature Sport approached Swisse Wellness, to become naming rights partner of the People’s Ride.
The partnership has been long-lasting and mutually enjoyed. Following the 2018 event, which included three ride distances – 35km, 65km and 115km – Managing Director of Swisse Wellness, Oliver Horn, said:
“Today was a fantastic morning to bring everyone together to celebrate good health and happiness. Being able to participate in an event that celebrates the benefits of being active, healthy and happy, makes us very proud as a brand.”
At the end of their long journey, riders were welcomed back into Geelong’s Steampacket Gardens where partners host stalls at the Event Village including incredible products, produce, merchandise and services.
With Signature Sport overseeing the partnership program for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, we were proud to see every 2018 Swisse People’s Ride participant receive an exclusive Santini jersey, while four competition winners also took home a new BMC bike to the value of $4100.
